Dorchester Town v Marine Preview

Match Preview from Mike Wray

We return to Southern League action on Saturday afternoon, with a trip down South as we face Dorchester Town for the third time this season at The Avenue Stadium, KO 3:00pm.

After 21-days without a game, Saturday’s weather forecast is finally offering hope that the season can get back underway and Marine will have the perfect opportunity to make it a clean sweep over our hosts, while closing the gap on the playoff places.

With three games in-hand over our hosts, the match-up will be a proverbial “six-pointer” with both teams in the hunt for a playoff space, and following two close match up’s already this season, a 3-2 league win and a 1-0 FA Cup victory, both in favour of Marine back in September, there’ll be added spice as Lee Spalding’s men will be looking to make it a clean sweep. While our hosts will be looking to consolidate their current league position ahead of the chasing pack.

Despite not having played since January 14, the Magpies enter the game in fourth place in the current form chart, with seven wins, three draws and just two defeats in their last 12 games, and have won their previous two games, however Marine have arguably had the more difficult run and the margins remain close so we’re expecting another close one.
