HENDON COME TO TOWN

Swindon Supermarine return to action this Saturday 2nd October at the Webbswood Stadium for a 3pm kick off in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South against visiting Hendon FC.

This is a crucial fixture for both teams hoping to stay with the early season pacesetters, with both sides on 12 points from eight games, though interesting to note that we have already played those sides currently occupying the top five positions! The Greens arrive in Wiltshire having dispatched Wimborne Town by 3-1 last weekend on their plastic pitch with the Marine squad keen to protect an unbeaten record here at The Webbswood Stadium.

Key men for manager Lee Allinson’s charges are Liam Brooks with four goals so far this campaign in five matches and skilful winger Wilson Carvalho always a tricky customer to deal with. We may also see new loan signing Joe Budd from Bristol Rovers make a debut this weekend for Hendon?

HEAD TO HEAD

Marine won the last encounter at home back in November 2019 when we ran out 2-0 winners with a Harry Williams double! Let’s hope he can repeat the trick! Our only two previous games was in the 2018/19 season when we lost both games 1-0.

TEAM NEWS

Player news ahead of the game is that midfielder George Dowling (hamstring) and defender Pierce Mitchell (groin) will once again miss out, but they are both hoping to be fit for next weekend against Poole Town, although midfielder Frankie Artus (Groin) is estimated to be 2-3 weeks away from a return to full fitness.

WHAT THE GAFFER SAYS

Gaffer Lee Spalding had this to say about the game; “Saturday’s fixture is all about a positive reaction, the players have been bright and shown a great attitude in training after last week’s disappointing result and we are looking forward to getting back to action against a very good Hendon side“. Our home form at the Webbswood Stadium has been excellent so far this season and we must look to continue building on this and get back to winning ways in front of our home fans.“

A sentiment I think we can all echo! With the local sides away in action this weekend we hope you can join us in what is sure to be an exciting and flowing encounter!
