Plymouth Parkway v Marine Preview

Match Preview from Mike Wray

Our travels continue this weekend as we head to the coast and a long trip down to Plymouth to play Plymouth Parkway for our first ever encounter, kick off is 3:00pm.

With seven league wins and four draws in their last eleven games, Marine will be hoping to extend that run to twelve without defeat when they head back down to the coast on Saturday afternoon, as they continue to press for a place in the play offs one game at a time.

It’s not just last Saturday’s impressive 6-1 win in Winchester that has demonstrated why Lee Spalding and his men deserve a spot in the top five, but also their ability to eke out results when things haven’t gone their way as demonstrated at Hendon in their fixture four days earlier, and even when defeat has happened, it has more often than not been a narrow affair and not down to tardiness of their game and with that in mind, we can expect another tough battle at Bolitho Park.

Having begun their season slowly, our hosts have gone about their business in low-key fashion this season and have enjoyed some great attendances along the way and currently find themselves in a comfortable mid-table berth and with over half of their remaining games set to be played at home, stand a very good chance of rounding off their campaign in positive fashion.

Speaking after their 3-1 midweek victory over Gosport Borough, manager Lee Hobbs said:
“I felt we were efficient, I felt we played the pitch really, really well. “We only had twelve fit players available so for us, that shows the character and personality of the group. “We restricted them [Gosport] to long balls in to the box and when you’ve got three centre-halves in the box like mine, I’m happy for teams to do that all day long. “It’s another three-points in the right direction, I don’t know what the other results have been tonight, but hopefully that 43-points is the marker for mathematical safety, but if it isn’t, we’ll just keep going with Swindon on Saturday.”
