The annual Swindon Supermarine FC awards night took place on Saturday night at the Webbswood Stadium club and community room, with Chairman Jez Webb inviting his friend and impressionist Rory Bremner as our guest speaker for the evening. The awards began with the first award of the night, the Players Player of the Season. This was a unanimous vote by the players with Harry Williams receiving the award and bottle of Moet from manager Lee Spalding.

The next award was the Sid Mills trophy along with the Manager Players Player of the Season. The was presented on behalf off Sid’s family by his grandson and this award was won by joint winners Sam Turl and Ryan Campbell.

Manager Lee Spalding said both players had given their all during the season, with Sam playing in all 52 matches and was excellent in his first season with Marine and Ryan playing a number a games at left back during the season where he was outstanding.

Our next awards was voted by the supporters of Swindon Supermarine, with Steve Gunnett unavailable on the night the award was presented by another supporter Pete Crocket who presides in the Yuasa Stand on matchdays.

Pete announced the Supporters Player of the Season, as voted by our supporters, was Harry Williams, another trophy and another bottle of Moet. Celebrations were on hold as there was more awards to come and the next trophy we all knew who was going to win!

The next award was for Swindon Supermarine’s leading goalscorer in 2022/23 and with a total of 39 goals the winner of course was Harry Williams! Harry received his award from guest speaker Rory Bremner and club chairman Jez Webb and again another bottle of Moet champagne.

By now I think most of the audience were asking themselves, I hope Harry likes champagne?

The last two awards were special awards for outstanding service to the club with a couple of players passing a milestone during the season having started either more than 100 and 200 games respectively.

The first player to receive a bottle of Moet champagne in recognition of making his 200th start for Swindon Supermarine during the 2022/23 campaign was Brad Hooper.

Brad has made a total 220 starts, 67 substitute appearances and scored 44 goals since joining the club in 2017.

The last award of the night went to a player who started the evening off, Harry Williams. Harry was presented with a bottle of Moet champagne in recognition of making his 100th start for Swindon Supermarine during the 2022/23 campaign.

Harry has made a total 104 starts, 26 substitute appearances and scored 70 goals since joining the club in 2019.
