Swindon Supermarine bowed out of the Southern League Challenge Cup as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Cirencester Town tonight.
The home side failed to build on their early lead as the Centurians booked their passage into the next round, with Aidan Bennett’s late strike wrapping things up for the visitors.
Marine made the perfect start to the contest and were ahead of six minutes as Brad Hooper charged down a Ciren clearance and advanced before firing beyond the visiting keeper.
Connor Thompson, Joe Selman and Stuart Fleetwood all had opportunities for the home side but they were pegged back just after the half-hour mark as an unmarked Bennett restored parity.
Two minutes before the interval, the visitors turned the game on its head as Jordan Morris was left unmarked at the back post to fire home Town’s second.
HT: 1-2
Thompson, Selman and Dan Williamson all had chances in the second period but Bennett took advantage of a mistake at the back to wrap up the tie with his second in injury time.
FT: 1-3
Attendance: 102
