Marine v Dorchester Preview

Marine vs Dorchester Preview:

We host our penultimate home game before Christmas at the Webbswood Stadium on Saturday, as the Magpies head to Swindon, kick off 3:00pm.

Current Positions:

Swindon Supermarine - 20th place - P18-W3-D5-L10 14pts
vs
Dorchester Town - 19th place - P17-W4-D4-L9 16Pts

We welcome Dorchester Town to Wiltshire this coming Saturday as the boys look to extend their five-game unbeaten run to six, against the Magpies who are also looking to escape the relegation places as we head towards the festive period.

With four wins and a draw, the great escape is very much back in the hands of Supermarine as Head Coach, Stuart Fleetwood and Assistant Dan Gillespie, continue to instil their beliefs in to the players who have been playing some sublime football since the management teams’ arrival and picking up a massive three points at Hendon last week, when not at their best. It is testimony to the togetherness and effort that has returned to the side.

Preparations for the important game haven’t gone particularly well for Dorchester meanwhile, with last Saturday’s home game with Beaconsfield Town being abandoned after 66-minutes due to fog, followed by a midweek trip to Hanwell Town falling to the rain, meaning their last win came a month ago when they thrashed Basingstoke Town 4-1 at the Avenue Stadium.

Disappointment followed that result however, when they lost their following two tough encounters narrowly against promotion hopefuls Bracknell Town and then Salisbury, but they’ll no doubt arrive at the Webbswood Stadium with a quiet confidence in their own ability, so Marine will certainly need to be on their game.

The Teams Leading Goalscorers:

Marine: Levi Irving – 8 goals
Magpies: Shaquille Gwengwe – 10 goals

Parking & Travel:

Whilst we have FREE car parking for over 300 cars in our car park at the Webbswood Stadium, it does get very busy on matchdays so why not travel by public transport and then save the issue off finding a parking space!

We encourage our spectators to use the Stagecoach Number 7 bus from the town centre bus station, with a route via Greenbridge Retail Park and The Crown Inn at Stratton. It’s a twenty-three-minute bus ride to the last bus stop in the South Marston Industrial Estate (Exel stop).

Just ask the bus driver to stop for you at the bus stop for the Supermarine Sports Complex, and then it’s just a few minutes’ walk from there to the ground. This makes the Webbswood Stadium more accessible to all and has greener credentials, please try it!
