Marine v Sholing Preview

Marine vs Sholing Preview:

We’re back at home on Saturday as we welcome the Boatmen to the Webbswood Stadium, kick off 3:00pm.

There was no dwelling on Tuesday evening’s superb win over promotion hunting Chesham United in the Supermarine camp come 9.45pm, with both Head Coach Stuart Fleetwood and his assistant Dan Gillespie insisting that it will count for very little should the team even consider resting on their laurels.

“Its one win,” the Head Coach said in his post-game interview. “It’s something we needed, but this result means absolutely nothing unless we turn up on Saturday against Sholing.

“I’ve just said to the players in the changing room that they haven’t made it by winning one game and I’m going to be on at them even more to back that up because they’re the kinds of levels we need to reach to win a game of football at this level.

“You’re never going to stroll in the park and get three points – we’ve had to die for that performance tonight – but they’re your levels and if we don’t hit them again on Saturday I’ll be asking why.”

Matchday Experience:

We’re blessed with two youth clubs visiting the Webbswood Stadium on Saturday as we welcome the players, management and family members of Wroughton U10s Wookies and Wanborough Wasps U10s.

We hope you all have a great time during your visit and remember - we want you to be as noisy as you can and help cheer the boys on to another three points as we battle our way up the table!

Matchday Programme:

Inside this weekend’s edition, Head Coach Stuart Fleetwood reflects on the sides first win midweek against high-flying Chesham United, club photographer Alex White deputises for Nick Taylor once (who will have returned from his holiday) and Pete Crockett has his view from the Yuasa Stand.

We’ve packed the issue with our usual facts and stats, photos and Jon Couch (who our Aldershot Town supporting content creator was at college with!) rounds up all the news from the Non-League Paper – featuring Aldershot Town’s amazing win at the County Ground. We’ll also have game day photographs on our Instagram account: @officialswindonsupermarine and there’ll be the usual HT and FINAL updates on Facebook.

Supermarine TV:

Game highlights will be on Supermarine TV Sunday.

Parking & Travel:

Whilst we have FREE car parking for over 300 cars in our car park at the Webbswood Stadium, it does get very busy on matchdays so why not travel by public transport and then save the issue off finding a parking space!

We encourage our spectators to use the Stagecoach Number 7 bus from the town centre bus station, with a route via Greenbridge Retail Park and The Crown Inn at Stratton. It’s a twenty-three-minute bus ride to the last bus stop in the South Marston Industrial Estate (Exel stop).

Just ask the bus driver to stop for you at the bus stop for the Supermarine Sports Complex, and then it’s just a few minutes’ walk from there to the ground. This makes the Webbswood Stadium more accessible to all and has greener credentials, please try it!
