RIP Dave Lewis
Thursday 24th September 2020
The Club is deeply saddened to learn of the death last week of one of our much loved stalwarts Dave Lewis
Dave was a familiar and friendly face at Swindon Supermarine Football Club for 15 years or more. As a dedicated volunteer Dave gave his time freely helping wherever he could. Over the years Dave could be found perhaps helping to prepare the pitch for match days, undertaking vital repair work, stewarding or cleaning or maintaining the old dressing rooms.
He was a reliable and enthusiastic Club member who always had a warm smile and cheeky laugh whilst he worked. Dave was very practically minded and often saw ways to solve problems without spending valuable club money.
Dave was one of our core members of the Club who simply loved being involved with Swindon Supermarine. In our recent Club film “ Local Pride“ Dave was interviewed and explained that the Club and everyone involved was like a family to him.
Dave celebrated his 80th Birthday last October. He was our guest at a match with Martin Osman who celebrated his 60th the same night with him, both are pictured.
Dave will be missed by us all but especially Steve Gunnett, another Club stalwart, who in recent years watched out for Dave ensuring he got to matches and home safely.
God Bless you Dave and thank you for everything you did for us and for the fun and stories you entertained us with whilst here at Swindon Supermarine Football Club, RIP Dave.
