Supermarine vs Merthyr Preview:

We round of the opening month of 2023-24 on Bank Holiday Monday, with another big game against the Martyr’s, kick off 3pm. A challenging opening month comes to a close at the Webbswood Stadium on Monday afternoon, with an early “top vs bottom” clash – but one that Marine will very much relish.

With their usual strong supporter base and a record of five straight wins, we’ll be expecting nothing less than another tough battle, but one that the players will continue to focus on reaching.

The Teams Leading Goalscorrers:

Supermarine: Levi Irving – 2 Martyrs Leading Scorer: Ricardo Rees – 7

Last Time We Met:

Southern League Premier South - Monday January 2nd 2023.
Merthyr Town - 2 (Curtis Jemmett-Hutson 25’, Mat Liddiard og 45+1’)
Swindon Supermarine - 1 (Harry Williams 85’pen)

Last Season:

Merthyr ended the last campaign in ninth position, with 18 wins from their 42 games. They were another side in the SLPS who enjoyed a superb run in the FA Cup, with their run unfortunately coming to an end in Buxton where they were on the wrong end of a 2-0 score in Round 1. In the FAT, they lost 0-1 at home against AFC Totton in a 3QR tie.

Admission Prices:

There are no pre-match tickets on sale for the game, it is pay on the day at the turnstiles, which will be open from 13:00 with either cash or card payments accepted.

  • Family 4 - £25 (2 Adults + 2 Youths)
  • Adult - £12 (18 to 59-years-old)

Matchday Experience:

We’re expecting another noisy one this Bank Holiday Monday as we welcome the Abbeymeads U11s Girls to the game! We’re looking forward to welcoming all the players, coaches, family and friends from Abbeymeads and we hope you all enjoy your visit.

We want to remember you all for being LOUD! Don’t forget to get involved and let’s hear you during the game and enjoy your exhibition game at half time and make sure you get plenty of high-fives from the crowd before you leave the pitch!

Half Time Draw:

Don’t forget to visit Martin in the club shop ahead of the game or when he’s going around the stadium to purchase tickets for our 50/50 Draw.
The draw is made and announced during the first half, but we will also have the winning numbers on our social media platforms if you miss out! Just £1 will get you entry and you could take home a cash prize or a runner-up prize!

Keeping up-to-date on game day:

If you can’t join us at the game, you can follow the action via our official Twitter account @SupermarineFC, where we will have regular updates throughout the match courtesy of Pete Crockett and perhaps a couple of new supporters as part of our media team. We’ll also have half-time and full-time updates on Facebook.

Match Programme:

We welcome Merthyr Town to the Webbswood Stadium tomorrow for our third home game in the Southern League Premier South campaign. Our printed matchday programme with cover photo of Ryan Campbell pictured in action will cost £2:50p whilst stocks last.

Other Premier South Matches:

Basingstoke Town vs AFC Totton
Chesham United vs Beaconsfield Town
Hanwell Town vs Hayes & Yeading United
Hendon vs Harrow Borough
Hungerford Town vs Didcot Town
Poole Town vs Dorchester Town
Sholing vs Gosport Borough
Tiverton Town vs Plymouth Parkway
Walton & Hersham vs Bracknell Town
Winchester City vs Salisbury

Parking & Travel:

Whilst we have FREE car parking for over 300 cars in our car park at the Webbswood Stadium, it does get very busy on matchdays so why not travel by public transport and then save the issue off finding a parking space!

We encourage our spectators to use the Stagecoach Number 7 bus from the town centre bus station, with a route via Greenbridge Retail Park and The Crown Inn at Stratton. It’s a twenty-three-minute bus ride to the last bus stop in the South Marston Industrial Estate (Exel stop).

Just ask the bus driver to stop for you at the bus stop for the Supermarine Sports Complex, and then it’s just a few minutes’ walk from there to the ground. This makes the Webbswood Stadium more accessible to all and has greener credentials, please try it!
