Marine v Plymouth Parkway Preview

From Nick Taylor

With only one win in the last eight games and with fixtures running out, Marine play host for the second week running this Saturday with Plymouth Parkway coming to the Webbswood Stadium and are the only side Marine have yet to play this season.

After yet another Tuesday night postponement this week, Parkway have endured an extremely frustrating time of late with their season littered with postponements both at their Bolitho Park ground, which until recently their shared with National South side Truro City and away from home.

Other postponements away from Devon has has led to them dropping down the standings and currently sit fourth from bottom on 31 points, 4 points behind Marine but with a whopping 9 games in hand, meaning that they will be playing at least one game in midweek in the remaining weeks of the season and for a couple of weeks possibly two games in midweek along with the Saturday’s, a tough run in to say the least!

Before all the postponements, Lee Hobbs’s squad had managed to put together an unbeaten run of nine games, including an impressive 4-0 home demolition of leaders Chesham United back in December.

Ex-Tavistock Town winger, Jack Crago, heads the Parkway ‘Golden Boot’ race on 10 goals for the season, with youngster Dylan Jones impressing in recent weeks with 5 goals. Also in the Plymouth ranks is vastly experienced striker, Matt Wright who Marine supporters will remember from his Taunton Town days and also from a short loan spell he had with Marine as a youngster whilst I believe at Plymouth Argyle?

“Last Saturday’s draw with Tiverton has turned the Plymouth match into a crucial game but we are clear in our goal and tally of points we will need,” Marine Head Coach Stuart Fleetwood commented in midweek.”

Henry Spalding is suspended from the game on Saturday after receiving two yellow cards against Tiverton Town.
