Swindon Supermarine v Weymouth Preview

Posted by Keith Yeomans

Supermarine vs Weymouth Preview:

We host the Terras in our penultimate preseason fixture at the Webbswood Stadium this Saturday afternoon, kick off 3pm.

Our tough preseason campaign continues Saturday as we take on a National League side for the second time this week with Weymouth travelling to the Webbswood Stadium. In a game that is expected to help when we face a tricky opening month in the Southern League.

With Poole Town, Waltham & Hersham, Salisbury, Gosport Borough, Bracknell Town and Merthyr Town all lying in wait as we head to August. The toughness gained in our preseason schedule is expected to focus the minds on the players when the serious stuff gets underway.

The experience gained thus far will go a long way to ironing out any lapses in concentration against what is shaping up to be a hugely competitive Southern League Premier South Division next season.

Our visitors have won three games this preseason. With a 3-2 win away at Shaftsbury, and then by the same scoreline at Wimborne Town and 2-1 win at home against AFC Bournemouth U21s. They have also drawn one away at AFC Stoneham and lost 1-0 away at Poole Town.

They will now be looking for another solid performance ahead of their final two preseason games, so we can expect another tough and entertaining encounter.

Parking & Travel:

Whilst we have FREE car parking for over 300 cars in our car park at the Webbswood Stadium, it does get very busy on matchdays so why not travel by public transport and then save the issue off finding a parking space!

We encourage our spectators to use the Stagecoach Number 7 bus from the town centre bus station, with a route via Greenbridge Retail Industrial Park and The Crown Inn at Stratton. It’s a twenty-three-minute bus ride to the last stop in the South Marston Industrial Estate (Exel stop).

Just ask the bus driver to stop for you at the bus stop for the Supermarine Sports Complex, and then it’s just a few minutes’ walk from there to the ground. This makes the Webbswood Stadium more accessible to all and has greener credentials, please try it!
