Winchester City v Marine Preview:

We make a second attempt to play the Citizens on Tuesday evening, as we head to the Charters Community Stadium weather permitting, kick off 7.45pm.

Marine will be looking to make it two wins in Hampshire in four days when they travel to Winchester City on Tuesday evening for a re-arranged Southern League fixture after the original game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Our hosts have had a mixed bag of results as the recent poor weather causes their ability to host games continues to stutter, with fixtures against Didcot Town and Tiverton Town being postponed following an emphatic 5-0 thrashing of Bracknell Town on December 5th, and last weekend saw them pegged to a one-all score at AFC Totton which now sees them three games undefeated.

Speaking about the match-up against Marine following their 1-1 draw at AFC Totton on Saturday, Citizens manager Craig Davis told his sides media team: “They’ve got a new manager who has been around and knows the game, he was clearly going to be a good coach and he’s got them playing a good brand of football.

“They’ll come to our place and play their football and we’re going to have to make sure that we’re good without the ball at times because their confidence is sky-high. Don’t look at the league table – look at the form table because they’ll be right up there. We’ll look forward to that game, but we have to back up today by getting a good result Tuesday.”

With the weather forecast is not good news as heavy rain is due to start in Winchester in the early hours of Tuesday morning and not stop until around 7pm Tuesday evening, please keep your eyes on our social media platforms for any updates throughout Tuesday.
