Yate Town v Marine Preview

Match Preview from Mike Wray

We face another local derby as we set off on out travels for the final time in the regular season, when we head to Yate on Saturday afternoon, kick off 3pm.

League Positions & Points:

Yate Town - 20th / P40-W9-D7-L24 / 34Pts
Marine - 6th / P39-W20-D8-L11 / 68pts

Local Yate media reported that two wins over the Easter weekend gave the Bluebell’s a very slight chance of surviving relegation this campaign and with victories over the Metropolitan Police and then Merthyr Town under their belts, you can guarantee that Saturday will be anything but a cakewalk for Marine who have their own record achievements to get in the books.

With three games remaining for Lee Spalding’s side, three wins may or may not be enough to sneak in to the playoffs, only time will tell? However, it would guarantee the clubs highest ever finish and an amazing achievement given the limited resources when compared with a host of other Southern League clubs, but as we have seen so often this season, all Marine can do, is concentrate on their next game.

Speaking following Monday’s tough three-points against North Leigh, manager Lee Spalding said: “They’re fighting for their lives and are obviously looking to stay in the league. “They’ve had a couple of positive results and won their last two – they’re going to have confidence and be looking forward to the game.”

Leading Goalscorers:

Yate Town - Zack Drew / 7 league goals
Marine - Harry Williams / 31 league goals
