CLINICAL MOUSEHOLE PUNISH DISJOINTED MARINE
[Swindon Supermarine suffered a disappointing 3–0 defeat at home as Mousehole produced a sharp, clinical performance that Marine never truly matched. A debut was handed to Raphael Oppong, but the squad was stretched, with several regulars unavailable - a disruption that showed as the match unfolded.]
The first half was largely a midfield stalemate with neither side able to build meaningful momentum. Marine’s possession lacked penetration and the final pass was often missing. In contrast, Mousehole grew into the contest, and it was they who broke the deadlock shortly before the interval.
Tallan Mitchell’s run into the box drew a foul from Josh Grant and Hayden Turner drilled the penalty to Luke Purnell’s right, just beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.
The second half proved the undoing of Marine. The team never settled into a rhythm and the game continually tilted toward the visitors. Mousehole created almost all the clear opportunities after the break and the pressure eventually told.
Two goals from Jack Symons within a couple of minutes around the hour mark removed any doubt about the outcome. The first arrived after sustained patient play, Gene Price collecting a throw and slipping Hayden Turner through, who squared the ball for Jack Symons to finish.
The second was an impressive team move: Ward initiated it from the back, Fresneda and Price combined cleverly, and Symons weaved through defenders before placing the ball neatly inside the post.
From Marine’s standpoint the result reflected a performance that lacked cohesion. Defensively, they were exposed too often; offensively, they struggled to threaten.
Mousehole were sharper, quicker in transition, and simply better over the ninety minutes. A larger margin would not have flattered the visitors.
Come on Marine!
