HOT PROSPECTS VISIT WEBBSWOOD

This Saturday afternoon Swindon Supermarine host their opening fixture of the season HOT off the back of a superb away victory at Hartley Wintney last weekend, the turnstiles are open from 12:30 and kick off is at 15:00.

Manager Lee Allinson brings his Hendon FC side down the M4 having opened their account at home last week with a defeat to Yate Town where our former goalkeeper Martin Horsell turned in a man of the match performance to deny the Greens.

Hendon finished last season in 16th in the table with the sides drawing at the Webbswood 1-1 thanks to a late Brad Hooper 25-yard strike in the rain with the next meeting taking place at Hendon where the hosts ran out 1-0 victors. Marine have in fact only beaten Hendon once in the previous five encounters, a 2-0 victory in 2019 where a certain Harry Williams scored a brace.

Star men for the visitors are likely to be Joe White who scored the winner last time out in a man of the match performance and new signing Arthur Iontton a classy 21-year-old midfielder who formerly played for Stevenage Borough in the EFL.

Team news for Marine is that captain Mat Liddiard is available again having missed the opener but Ryan Campbell is ruled out with a broken metatarsal after the red card challenge last weekend. Everyone else is fit and available for selection.

Manager Lee Spalding ahead of the match had this to say:

“Training has been tough this week in the heat and the players have shown an excellent attitude and work ethic with the kind of intensity we need to take into Saturday. It will be a tough test in the expected temperatures against a good Hendon side. We need to focus on what we need to do in order to get a positive result in our first home game of the new season”

Saturday also the official launch of our 30th anniversary one-off home kit this weekend and we will have the jerseys available to buy for just £40 and with limited numbers available we suggest you get along to the club shop asap.

With Swindon Town away at Carlisle United it is a good chance for the local Robins fans to have a closer day out in the sun and cheer on another local side!

The turnstiles and all other facilities are open from 12:30pm, with admission prices as follows:

Adults - £11
Concessions (over 60s & 12-17 years-old) - £7
Children (U12’s) - FREE

Both cash and card payments can be used for admission at the turnstile and in the bar and kitchen areas

Parking & Travel

Whilst we have FREE car parking for over 300 cars in the car park at the Webbswood Stadium it does get very busy on matchdays so why not travel by public transport and be rewarded at the same time. We encourage our spectators to use the Number 7 bus from the town centre bus station. It’s a 26 minute bus ride and a seven minute walk from the bus stop at South Marston Park, and on production of your bus ticket for day the of the match to either the bar staff or kitchen staff and you will be rewarded with either a FREE pint or a FREE snack of your choice! This makes the Webbswood Stadium more accessible to all and has greener credentials, please try it!
