Weston-super-Mare Preview

Swindon Supermarine return to action this Saturday 18th December at the Webbswood Stadium for a 3:00pm kick off in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South against Weston-super-Mare
The Seagulls are having a good season sitting just outside the play offs in sixth spot under manager Scott Bartlett and they are unbeaten in the Premier Division South since October, so tough test ahead for Marine. Key players are Scott Laird who has scored seven goals this campaign, along with Alfie Moulden and Ben Griffith who both have six goals each.
The last the two sides met at the Webbswood was in the League was way back in November 2019 when Marine came out on top 3-2 with Harry Williams, Mat Liddiard and Henry Spalding giving us a healthy lead before two second half penalties from Scott Laird brought a closer scoreline. We did meet in October last year in the FA Cup at Weston when they went through via a penalty shoot out following a 2-2 draw. A Brad Hooper penalty and Conor McDonagh strike gave us the lead on two occasions before a late equaliser took the tie to penalties.
Marine will hope to keep up good recent form for an early Christmas present having won their last two league games and also a massive 8-1 win the Southern League Cup against Wantage Town in midweek. Jamie Edge returns to the squad having been rested on Tuesday but both George Dowling and Frankie Artus are expected to miss out through injury. New signing Tom Sharpe will be in the squad for his first league game and there maybe a place in the squad for two other recent signings Tom Golledge and Rowan Doyle after they did well on Tuesday.
Please come on down to the Webbswood Stadium! BRING A MATE and BUILD THE GATE. With the Swindon Town match being postponed we hope to see a number of Town supporters at the Webbswood for one last outside party ahead of Christmas!
