Salisbury Preview
Swindon Supermarine return to action this Saturday 4th December at the Webbswood Stadium for a 3:00pm kick off in the PitchingIn Southern League Premier Division South against Salisbury
The Whites, under boss Steve Claridge, currently sit in 11th place, six points ahead of Supermarine having played two games less. Recent league form has been mixed having won two, lost four, and drawn two of their last eight matches. Key men are Emmanuel Odubade and Sam Ashton, Ashton is top scorer with five goals with Emmanuel hitting four goals in just seven games.
Marine will be looking to build on their superb win last weekend at Gosport Borough and move away from the bottom end of the table. Kieran Phillips has hit SEVEN goals in SEVEN games in his loan spell from Bristol Rovers and will be wanting to add further goals to his tally.
This is the third meeting between the sides already this year but the first at the Webbswood Stadium. Marine having gone down 4-2 at the Ray McEnhill Stadium in the league after a crazy fifteen minutes and four goals for Salisbury in the first half after Zack Kotwica had put us into a nineteenth minute lead with Conor McDonagh scoring our second and consolation goal late in the game.
But there was redemption in the Southern League Challenge Cup with a fine display, winning 3-1 to progress with goals coming from Tyrone Duffus, Chris Zebroski and an own goal from Sam Roberts. On the positive side Marine have not lost to Salisbury at home since 2011 although the last two home clashes both ended 2-2 in 2019.
It promises to be a classic derby day encounter with interest piqued after the recent move of Henry Spalding to Salisbury and back again. He for one will be keen to pick up the three points more than most. Please come out and support us in what will hopefully be a healthy attendance.
Please come on down to the Webbswood Stadium! BRING A MATE and BUILD THE GATE!
