HONOURS EVEN
Dylan Jones embarked on a mazy run. This was followed by a goal mouth scramble that saw the ball break into the path of CALLUM HALL who tapped home from close range.

Marine equalised in the 17th minute some MICHAEL FERNANDES trickery induced a clumsy challenge in the box. The fouled home team player picked himself up to convert the spot kick. Both sides had first half chances with Marine hitting a post and having an effort cleared off the line whilst the visitors forced a couple of sharp saves from Luke Purnell.

On 57 minutes Marine took the lead with a well worked goal. Michael Fernandes produced a pacy run down the left. He hit a deep cross beyond the far post to Harry Williams. The Marine striker looped his header back across goal where GABE REIVERS finished with aplomb from close range.

On 62 minutes a free kick from 30 yards from the Plymothians Tom Dean was tipped over the bar by Marine keeper Luke Purnell. Three minutes later the Devonian’s Rio Garside had a fierce shot on target deflected wide following a brave defensive block. In the 69th minute Marine could have made it 3-1 when Michael Fernandes went through but the visiting keeper Andrew Sowden-Bird made an excellent one-on-one save.
Parkway equalised in the 75th minute when a good run to the goal line saw a cross pulled back into the six-yard box. RIO GARSIDE got to the cross first and slotted the ball home from close range. The remainder of the match ended with both sides searching for the winning goal but both teams struggled to create clear openings. Marine’s Nick Peare headed just over in the final seconds, but defeat would, in all fairness, have been a decidedly harsh outcome on the visitors.

Plymouth Parkway looked a better team than their current position. Players who caught the eye for the visitors were Callum Hall who put in a good performance in midfield as did Rio Garside. Meanwhile Shane White was commanding at centre back. Marine were, in all honesty, slightly below par. It was not a poor performance, but the passing and movement was not as slick as some of the football the team has played in recent weeks.
This saw possession sometimes turned over a little too easily – in part down to Parkway’s energetic high press but also because in too many instances Marine’s passing lacked precision. Marine’s goal scoring opportunities seemed most likely to come from Michael Fernandes opening up the away team’s defence.
In recent matches most Marine players have been at eight out of ten or better. On this occasion few reached that level. However, on a slightly off day Marine kept the point they started with and the unbeaten league run stretches to four matches.
Come on Marine!
