Match Report from Pete Crockett

Harrow thoroughly deserved winners

Harrow Borough thoroughly deserved the three points with a well-earned victory against a surprisingly lacklustre Marine side.

Harrow started in lively fashion and took the lead when a back-post header was finished by skipper Reece Yorke in the six-yard box. It would be fair to say in a flurry of attacks the visitors could actually have scored more.

Marine equalised in the 43rd minute when Dave Sims-Burgess broke clear of the back four. His shot was well parried by keeper Tyler Tobin but Harry Williams smashed the rebound into the back of the net.

In first half injury time Harrow restored their lead when Reece Mitchell converted from the spot. Suffice it to say the penalty award was a cause of some consternation with Mitchell going over very easily.

In the second half Marine supporters hoped to see their team show some zest and tenacity. However, it was the visitors who looked the hungrier and scored a third when James Gurteen headed home a corner that had bounced all the way across goal to the back post.

Harrow then saw out the game with few alarms. There was one Marine penalty shout that looked a duplicate of the one awarded in the first half for Harrow Borough. Suffice it to say Marine supporters’ mood was not enamoured by this non-award.

That said Harrow Borough’s performance thoroughly deserved victory. They had several one-on-one situations and were only foiled by Fiachra Pagel’s good goal keeping. As for Marine there was a consensus around the home supporters that to survive relegation they need to show significantly more passion and fight.
