Clinical Bracknell beat Marine

Swindon Supermarine travelled to an in-form Bracknell Town on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend knowing they would face a stern challenge.

Playing with three at the back Marine looked relatively comfortable in the first ten minutes of the match. However, in the 11h minute they conceded when the host’s lively Kameron English embarked on a mazy run down the left flank and then, entering the area, dinked a precision cross onto the head of Joe Grant who nonchalantly nodded the ball into the back of the net.

In the next phase of the match two crucial turning points occurred. The first was when Marine thought they had equalised when Brandon Liggett netted from a Zack Kotwica cross only to find his effort disallowed for an offside infringement. Then with five minutes of the first half remaining a Nana Owusu free kick from outside the box eluded the grasp of Marine’s Charlie Searle thus doubling the host’s lead.

In the 71st minute Bracknell Town scored their third when a well weighted pass split the Marine defence allowing Joe Grant to adroitly round the goalkeeper and pass the ball into the back of the net.

Bracknell’s final two goals gave the score line a harsher look than Marine deserved. Kameron English first unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box into the top corner of the net and then the same player followed that with a curled effort that beat the despairing dive of the Marine keeper.

The Marine performance was not remotely as poor as the scoreline might suggest. However, the hosts were clinical in front of goal and that was the key component of their resounding victory.
